GAPS Intro Stage 5 Applesauce

This is the first fruit that we have on the GAPS Introduction diet.

6 ripe apples 1/2 beaker filtered sea

Peel and core apples. Thinly slice and simmer in a saucepan with the liquid, encompassed, until very soft. Mash with a forking and feed with ghee or tallow.

In stage 5 on period 24 we try carbs again, by introducing this easy-to-digest applesauce.

Cooked and peeled fruits for digestion and yeast

We’re mending our intestine with the GAPS Diet, and so fiberous food like apple peels are eliminated as it mends. Cooking the apples until soft likewise helps us to be able to digest the meat well, and not rile a newly-repaired bowel lining. Some people with yeast issues will be able to tolerate cooked fruit more than raw, since cooking the food transgresses the cell walls and allows it to be digested sooner in the digestive system.

LOW-CARB GAPS
